Orthopedic surgery must be done with the help of a variety of tools. Operations of different natures in different parts require different tools. For example, different maneuvers require different shaped retractors.

In addition, it is a common tool for orthopedics. General tools are divided into bone saws, bone hammers, bone rasps, bone curettes, osteotomy knives, bone retractors, and nucleus forceps.

    Bone saw:

    Handsaw

There are two types of panel saws and wire saws (wire saws). The board saw is only used in amputation for sawing off the backbone; the wire saw has serrated teeth distributed in a spiral shape and is used to saw off the deep bone, such as in pelvic osteotomy. The hip bone is often sawed off with a wire saw.

    Power Saw

There are two types of electric saws and pneumatic saws, both of which are used in the same way. Power saws can have three motion forms, namely rotation, swing, and longitudinal reciprocation.

    Bone Hammer

It is a bone hammer made of metal, which is generally divided into three types according to its weight: light, medium, and heavy. The light type is mainly used for finger, toe bone, and small joint surgery; the medium and heavy types are mainly used for limb bone and spine surgery.

    Bone File

It is like a steel file for a fitter. After bone cutting and osteotomy, if the broken ends of the bones are uneven or the edges are sharp, file them flat and round with a bone file. In addition, some special bone rasps are still used in some operations, such as acetabular rasps and medullary rasps.

    Posterior Thoracolumbar Fixation System

    Curette

It can be used to scrape scars and granulation tissue in sinus tracts, as well as sequestrum or pathological tissues in bone cavities and potential cavities. The head has a variety of specifications and curvatures in various directions so as to enter the lesion from different angles and adapt to the needs of different parts.

    Osteotomy Knife

There are straight bone knives and curved bone knives; that is, the handle and the blade can form a straight line or an angle. The head of the osteotome is two bevels with equal slopes. The function of the straight bone knife is to cut the bone, and the cancellous bone can be cut directly with the bone knife; when cutting the hard bone, in order to prevent the bone from splitting, drill a hole in the predetermined bone cutting line in advance, and then use the bone knife to cut the bone between the two holes. A curved bone knife can replace the role of a flat bone chisel.

    Bone Retractor

It is used to expose the surgical field of view in orthopedic surgery, making the operation easy to perform and protecting tissues from accidental damage; or used for stripping, retracting, or covering nerve roots in orthopedic surgery.

    Posterior Thoracolumbar Fixation System

    Nucleus Forceps

For the removal of tissue or polyps in orthopedic surgery. It usually consists of a pliers handle, pliers head, spring leaf and gill shaft screw. The head is generally made of stainless steel.
